Upcoming Events in Baja
Looking for something fun to do in May but don't want to stray too far?
Northern Baja is full of exciting events this May, giving you the
perfect excuse to head south for some fun in the sun. A road trip to
Baja is a great way to start the summer! While there is never a bad time
to head down to the beaches of northern Baja, these events make travel
in May especially appealing.
Coast 2 Coast 2 UTV Ride
May 5th - May 7th, Rosarito to San Felipe, Baja Mexico
Ever
dreamed of racing a UTV on an off road Baja track? Well, here is your
chance! This amateur ride is not strictly a racing competition, but a
fun way to try out your skills behind the wheel of a UTV while driving
through the scenic back country of Baja, from the Pacific coast at
Rosarito and arriving at the Sea of Cortes in San Felipe. Since this is a
fun ride and not a race, a guide will be provided. The track is 300
miles, only 6 of which are on pavement. If you don't have a UTV--not to
worry--one can be rented from the promoters. Check the official website
for details and how to sign up.
32nd Annual Party On Wheels Bike Ride
May 14th from Rosarito to Ensenada, Baja Mexico
This
award-winning 50-mile bike ride will take you on a scenic back road
from Rosarito to Ensenada in Baja. At the end of the ride, participants
enjoy a Finish Line Fiesta on the Ensenada waterfront with food, drinks
and live music. Check the official Party on Wheels website for details
and to purchase tickets.

Rosarito Art Fest
May 28th - 29th, Rosarito, Baja Mexico
Art
enthusiasts from Mexico and around the world will descend on Rosarito
beach for a weekend mingling with artists and viewing their art.
Included in the event are musical and gastronomical presentations and
admission is free. The Art Fest takes place on Blvd. Benito Juarez from
11 AM until 10 PM each day. Check their official website for updates on
the festival.
You don't have to travel far into Mexico to take
advantage of these events. However, you will still need a passport to
enter Baja, a law that changed in 2009. If you plan on driving, you
won't have to worry about getting a Mexico permit for your vehicle,
since Baja is in the Free Zone of Mexico. You will still need to
purchase Mexican auto insurance, however, and this is best done online
before you leave to avoid delays at the border. If you are ready for a
little R&R, start planning now, because these May events are just
around the corner!
